Compassion combines ethereal pop with 80s synth textures and a slacker rock charm. There are hints of Matthew E. White, BC Camplight, and Conor Oberst. The songs all address the issue of coming of age. They tell how, with age, priorities change, friendships evolve, and responsibilities become unavoidable. For Gabriel, the Venezuelan artist based in Indiana and co-founder of the renowned band Lawn, the changes in his own life inspired him to write a complete solo album that is unlike anything the indie rock traveler has done so far. Through 10 vibrant tracks that blend ethereal pop, slacker rock, and piano-based dance music, it is a galvanizing representation of personal growth and the grace we give ourselves to move forward.
