Take all my loves

Description

Rufus Wainwright celebrates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death in a brilliant way, with a completely original record for which nine sonnets by Shakespeare are recorded in the form of readings and songs. This is his first production with Marius de Vries since their epic series of albums Want. Among the performers are singers Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine), Martha Wainwright, and Anna Prohaska, as well as actors Sîan Phillips, Helena Bonham Carter, Carrie Fisher, and William Shatner. The story of this record dates back to 2009, when director Robert Wilson asked Wainwright to write the music for his show on Shakespeare's sonnets. Subsequently, Rufus was commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony to orchestrate five of these sonnets. Three of the sonnets from Take All My Loves were already featured (in different versions) on the album Songs For Lulu (2010).
