The partners from Scunthorpe, Rupert and Henry Stansall, mythologized in the wanted posters under the name Ruen Brothers, are back in the saddle with their fourth studio album: Awooo. Titled after the lycanthropic refrain of their melancholic track "Sitting at the Station," Awooo finds the duo on the road, filled with a ruminative desire to travel and explore dark, sprawling deserts, taking with them only their collection of folk songs inspired by the Western genre. The meditative and constructive longing of "The Cabin on the Hill," the thoughtful yearning etched in "Poison Down the Wire," and a tasteful reinvention of the traditional "Mama Don't" that could easily pass for an original, all showcase the creative growth that these young troubadours have established over their ten-year career.
