The fifth studio album by Ruby Rushton, Legacy!, written by bandleader Tenderlonious and keyboardist Aidan Shepherd, opens a new chapter for this highly influential British jazz group. Previously, the band, which also includes trumpeter Nick Walters and drummer Tim Carnegie, worked live in a single take, avoiding overdubs. For Legacy!, the four musicians decided to combine their virtuosity with Tenderlonious's studio production expertise. Each composition features brass and flute lines layered over the melodies, in addition to the original live takes.
