The 2019 book by Rozi Plain, 'What a Boost', is being reissued in a limited eco-vinyl edition via Memphis Industries on July 14. The reissue comes at the perfect time, following the resounding success of her 2023 album Prize. 'What a Boost' was self-produced with the help of a long list of musician friends, including Kate Stables, Jamie Whitby Coles, Neil Smith (All This is the Kit), Chris Cohen, Joel Wästberg (Sir Was), and Sam Amidon. Rozi Plain has been making music since her brother taught her a few guitar chords at the age of 13. Raised in Winchester, she spent a few years studying art and painting boats in Bristol, where she began collaborating with long-time friends Kate Stables (This Is The Kit) and Rachael Dadd, among many others, in a thriving local scene. It was there that Rozi made her first two albums, Inside Over Here in 2008 and Joined Sometimes Unjoin in 2012, each a work of delightfully sad and beautiful pop full of heartbreaking harmonies sprinkled with unexpected instrumental flourishes. Released in April 2015 on Lost Map and featuring contributions from Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, among others, her latest album Friend was a deeply meaningful and wonderfully measured ode to memory, place, camaraderie, and the remarkable power of music as an emotional balm. Almost constantly on tour, Rozi has taken her joyful show on the road countless times across Europe, the UK, and the US, and has toured with a host of alt-folk luminaries from Devendra Banhart to James Yorkston. She has appeared at festivals such as SXSW, Iceland Airwaves, Glastonbury, End of the Road, Latitude, BBC 6Music Festival, and Green Man. The 2023 album Prize was a breakthrough for Rozi, receiving 4-star reviews in Uncut, Mojo, and The Guardian, and leading to an unlikely support slot with Paramore that saw her performing in mega-domes across the UK. As the bassist and backing vocalist for Rough Trade-signed This Is The Kit, Rozi has been touring worldwide for years and appears on the new album Careful of Your Keepers.
