In 1963, while recording the sessions for Horace Silver's legendary 'Song For My Father', Roy Brooks released 'Beat' and enlisted the services of some of the virtuosos of the time, all produced by Berry Gordy. Indeed, the Workshop Jazz label, on which the drummer signed his first album, was none other than a label of the great Motown house.
Rediscover Roy Brooks' mastery of rhythm and harmony on this 180-gram vinyl reissue, whose masters were worked on the original tapes.
