Rostam's third album, American Stories, will be released on May 15. This is his first album in over five years. The Iranian-American artist and renowned producer returns with a record that explores his life at the crossroads of two cultures. His music blends elements of American music and Persian traditions, combining fingerpicking guitars, pedal steel, and strummed chords with microtonal Persian melodies. Rostam's lyrics, inspired by his own experiences, are a collection of stories and reflections: "The Weight" takes place on American university campuses in the spring of 2025; in "Forgive is to Know," Rostam analyzes real events and the writing process; in "Hardy ft. Clairo," he makes sense of the end of a relationship and questions the uncertain future of humanity. The result is a deeply personal and undeniably American album.
