Mad lad: a live tribute to Chuck Berry

Artist, author, producer and storyteller Ronnie Wood returns to his greatest love: music with the release of this new album Ronnie Wood with His Wild Five - 'Mad Lad: A Live Tribute to Chuck Berry'. 11 tracks recorded live at Wimborne's Tivoli Theatre last year, Rod pays a true tribute to his lifelong musical hero Chuck Berry. Notable guests include Imelda May on vocals and Ben Waters, with the artwork painted by Rod himself. This album will be the first of a trilogy recorded by Wood, a tribute to Ronnie's musical heroes. Ronnie was honored in October at the London Film Festival during the premiere of Somebody Up There Likes Me, a documentary film about Ronnie's life directed by Mike Figgis (released in theaters in 2020). About Ronnie Wood: "At 17, I founded the Birds with some local friends. We signed a contract and released a few singles, but no hits. In 1967, I became the bassist for the Jeff Beck Group and the singer was named Rod Stewart. Two years later, Rod and I joined forces with some members of the Small Faces to form Faces. In 1973, I worked with Mick Jagger on the song 'It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)', and I grew closer to the Stones over the following years before joining them. Keith and I became partners, and we quickly developed 'the ancient art of communion' that describes our completely cohesive playing. Painting and music have a well-defined place in my life. They regularly collide and make me who I am. Sometimes I have a burst of inspiration and I have to paint. Other times, it's music that calls me, and I take the painting with me, or it's the other way around. But most often it happens at the same time. I paint to music, and sometimes, when I play, I have a painting in my head. I have illustrated album covers, including one for Eric Clapton, and I turn the Stones' set lists into little works of art."
