Ronnie Lane, bassist for Small Faces and The Faces, remains an enigma in the history of Rock. A determined artist who chose to forge his own destiny in order to free himself from the demands of the music industry, he left his successful band for a dilapidated farm and a life on the road. He built his own recording studio, The Lane Mobile Studio, now a legend in rock recording. Ronnie created a sound and style inspired by folk, country music and Rhythm’n’Blues. He collaborated with many musicians including Ronnie Wood, Pete Townshend and Eric Clapton. Symptoms of multiple sclerosis appeared in the 1980s. Ronnie moved to Austin, Texas, where he wrote and played until his death in 1997. Ronnie Lane is one of the greatest English songwriters, and this is the first time that such a complete anthology of his post-Faces career has been undertaken.
