THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON REDUX

Description

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of "The Dark Side Of The Moon," Roger Waters announces the release of his tribute to the original album, "The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux." Waters states: "When we recorded the stripped-down songs for the Lockdown Sessions, the 50th anniversary of the release of "The Dark Side Of The Moon" was on the horizon. It occurred to me that "The Dark Side Of The Moon" might well be a suitable candidate for a similar re-working, partly as a tribute to the original work, but also to re-address the political and emotional message of the entire album. I discussed it with Gus and Sean, and when we stopped laughing and shouting "You must be ****ing mad," we decided to do it. The result is truly great, and I can't wait for everyone to hear it. It's not about replacing the original, which is obviously irreplaceable. But it's a way for the seventy-nine-year-old man to look the twenty-nine-year-old man in the eye and say, to quote one of my poems about my father, "We did our best, we kept his trust, our father would have been proud of us." It's also a way for me to honor a record that Nick, Rick, Dave, and I all have every reason to be proud of. As a founding member, lyricist, and main composer of Pink Floyd during the band's most influential and creative period, Roger Waters achieved global success and fame. Waters co-founded Pink Floyd in the mid-1960s. Under Waters' leadership, Pink Floyd produced a series of successful albums throughout the 1970s, the most successful and iconic of which are "The Dark Side Of The Moon," "Wish You Were Here," "Animals," and "The Wall." Roger Waters left Pink Floyd in 1985 and is now one of the world's most popular solo artists.
