An album that he considers to be his most "intimate and personal" and at the same time "the most universal there is." Dedicated to his two-year-old daughter, Malèna, the album offers seven original creations, composed and written in Sicilian, Neapolitan, and Italian by his brothers Frederico and David Alagna, alongside the greatest Neapolitan arias such as Funiculi Funicula, Marecchiare, and O sole mio, arranged for the occasion by his longtime friend, Yvan Cassar. Two distinguished guests also accompanied Roberto Alagna in the making of Malèna, the violinist Nemanja Radulovic and the mandolinist Avi Avital. Through the two repertoires of Neapolitan and Sicilian, Malèna transports us to volcanic lands and beyond, between harshness and sweetness, joy and melancholy, fire and blood.
