Arvo Pärt, one of the most performed living composers in the world, will turn 87 in September. His music is featured in many films (Avengers, Habemus Papam, There will be blood, The Barbarian Invasions, The Great Beauty, Terrence Malick's films…). A pioneer of the Nordic minimalist school, composing music that is both modern, pure, and deeply religious, he is the creator of the "tintinnabuli" style.
The Morphing Orchestra, an innovative ensemble in the classical and crossover fields, presents a collection of his most famous works, under the direction of its musical director Tomasz Wabnic. A star-studded cast is gathered: Roberto Alagna, Aleksandra Kurzak, and Andreas Scholl perform the Stabat Mater, a masterpiece of sacred music, presented here in a new arrangement approved by the composer himself.
Also at the heart of the program, sublime songs performed by the great countertenor Andreas Scholl (Vater Unser, Ein Wallfahrtslied, My Heart’s in the Highlands), as well as essential instrumental pieces: Spiegel im Spiegel, Fratres, Summa.
A Nordic and dreamlike universe carried by fully engaged musicians. A total success!
