King Of The Delta Blue Singers Vol. 2

Description

Robert Johnson was an American blues musician whose 1937 recordings profoundly influenced generations of artists. Although his recording career lasted only seven months, he is universally recognized as a master of Delta Blues, one of the earliest known blues styles, born in the Mississippi Delta in the early 20th century. This second compilation brings together sixteen recordings originally available on 78 rpm records and includes two Johnson tracks that have since become blues classics: "Sweet Home Chicago" and "I Believe I'll Dust My Broom." Unlike the deeply moving tracks on the 1961 album, many songs on this volume reveal a lighter side of Johnson. In 2003, this album ranked 424th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Whether he truly sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads of life to reach such heights, we will never know... King Of The Delta Blues Singers, Volume II is available in a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on translucent yellow vinyl and includes an insert with liner notes by Pete Welding.
