Bringing It Back Home

Description

The album "Bringing It Back Home" brings together a dream lineup, featuring organist Larry Goldings, drummer Harvey Mason, bassist David Piltch, and trombonist Steve Baxter. This new opus from virtuoso guitarist Robben Ford, titled "Bringing It Back Home," is a masterful work, a true masterpiece of soul, style, and virtuosity, which strikes straight to the heart with the exceptional emotion and musicality of its musicians. This record also brings this legend of the stage and studio, five-time Grammy Award nominee, back to his first love: the blues. Ford, whom Musician magazine ranked among the "100 greatest guitarists of the 20th century," built his reputation in the jazz and pop worlds of the 1970s and 1980s, as a solo artist, with the innovative fusion group L.A. Express, and as a studio musician for Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, and others. But it was in Northern California, in the 1960s, that he made his debut with the Charles Ford Blues Band. In this group—formed with his brothers and named after their father—he accompanied blues legends Jimmy Witherspoon and Charlie Musselwhite, thus gaining solid experience in the genre. "Bringing It Back Home" revisits and reinvents the roots of Ford's first musical passion. The guitar master selected 10 tracks from the blues repertoire, ranging from "Bird's Nest Bound" by Delta pioneer Charley Patton to "You Go Your Way and I Go Mine" by Bob Dylan, and, with a handpicked team of renowned musicians, created dynamic, fresh, and highly original studio arrangements for each song.
