A French musician of Italian origin, he truly stands out as an emblematic figure of the modernizing movement of musette, in a way the French answer to Argentine tango. Having started the accordion at a very young age, Galliano began with improvisation and adapting the accordion to jazz, drawing inspiration from Miles Davis’s Birth of the Cool sessions and the hard bop of Max Roach and Clifford Brown. Under his fingers, the instrument, so often burdened by prejudice, reveals extraordinary nobility and richness. Produced with Aldo Romano, Pierre Michelot Philip Catherine, his manifesto album " New Musette " earned him the Django-Reinhardt Prize from the Académie du Jazz in 1993, an award honoring the French musician of the year.
