Description

Riccardo Del Fra, bassist, composer, and arranger, has lived in Paris since 1981. He has participated in numerous records that have marked the history of jazz. In addition to the long companionship that linked him to Chet Baker, with whom he recorded a lot, including the famous album Sings Again, he has accompanied soloists such as Art Farmer, Dizzy Gillespie, Lee Konitz, Kenny Wheeler, Barney Wilen, Johnny Griffin, Bob Brookmeyer, and Dave Liebman. He also composes for cinema (notably Lucas Belvaux) and has directed the Jazz and Improvised Music Department of CNSMDP since 2004. He has been awarded several times (Django d'Or, European Musician Award from the Académie du Jazz, Grand Prix Charles Cros) for his previous records. Today, in this new recording, My Chet My Song, Riccardo brings together standards he loves and original music. His experience with Chet Baker is here transmuted into a musical world where romanticism and dreaminess, simplicity and exploration, tradition and modernity intertwine to create a magnetic and sensual song.
