Behind this somewhat enigmatic name is Jean-Philippe Verdin from Brittany. After a happy childhood with a jazz-loving father and classical musician sisters, and thanks to his influences, jazz, mods, ska, or pop, he evolves in several bands on keyboards and composition. But in 1991 during a rave, he discovers house music and becomes convinced that "this is where it’s at." His journey takes him from the baggy of Manchester to the pioneers of Detroit and Chicago, then to drum'n'bass. He then decides to leave his band to compose alone in his home studio. Opack first EP on F Communications, which already stands out for its unique programming and production. He carves a path for French electronica and establishes Readymade as an essential composer/producer/arranger, developing a seemingly chaotic and deeply melancholic universe nourished by hip-hop, pop, electronica, dub, house, and techno.
