Constellations

Description

The idea for "Constellations" was probably born during a visit to the Fundación Miró (Barcelona), following an in-depth conversation about the synesthesias between jazz, flamenco, contemporary music and painting ... At the crossroads of several musical genres, the album is first and foremost an original combination of buleria, jazz and groove. The luminous discourse of the Barcelona trumpeter is here articulated with the incantations of the brilliant Andalusian Diego Amador, the complicity of a great jazz rhythm section - Joe Sanders and Greg Hutchinson -, and the punctuation of the Madrid percussionist Kike Terron, not to mention the remarkable work of a young Barcelona string quartet on the trumpeter's own orchestrations - except in Esperenza where the arrangement is by pianist Richard Sears. Raynald Colom was endorsed at a very young age by legends such as Clark Terry, Roy Hargrove, ...... or even Jerry Gonzales (he was a close friend of the latter during his Madrid period).
A recognized jazz trumpeter on the European scene, he has been heard over the last 20 years alongside David Sanchez, Greg Osby, Jesse Davis, Eric McPherson, Omer Avital, Dafnis Prieto, Mulgrew Miller and many others; with Nicholas Payton, he took part in a notable tribute to the famous "Sketches of Spain" conducted by Bob Belden. An eclectic artist, he has also played with the elite of flamenco music (Chicuelo, Duquende, Antonio Serrano, Rosario la Tremendita, Vicente Amigo ... ) and he notably took part in the Latin American adventure of the famous "Clandestino" tour by Manu Chao... 'Constellations" is the trumpeter's seventh album!
