Indian musician Ravi Shankar (1920–2012) was one of the greatest masters of the sitar and a major composer of Hindustani classical music. Starting in 1956, he introduced Indian music to Europe and America through his tours, teaching, and collaborations, notably with Yehudi Menuhin and George Harrison of the Beatles.
