Happy Birthday, Ratboy combines the old and the new - featuring 10 new recordings of their early songs plus a newly written bonus track, this record celebrates a decade of Ratboys: a 10-year songwriting partnership, an evolving live show, a DIY project, a network of friendships, and everything in between. Almost as soon as Julia Steiner and Dave Sagan met during their college orientation, they began making music together. What emerged from their dorm rooms is the 5-song EP of RATBOY, uploaded to Bandcamp on April 1, 2011, to be shared with their friends and family. Today, to mark a decade (to the day), the Ratboys entered the studio to reimagine these songs and bring them back to life. New recordings of the 5 original songs from the RATBOY EP make up side A of Happy Birthday, Ratboy, along with 5 new versions of rare tracks from their college days and the new centerpiece, "Go Outside," on side B. Featuring staples of their live show over the years, including "The Stanza" and "Space Blows," pressed on vinyl for the first time and treated by the full band, Happy Birthday, Ratboy introduces new fans to the band's beginnings while toasting those who have been there since the start.
