Cine-Pop
Description
Glass Modern is very proud to present the debut album by Radhika Meera Dade. Cine-Pop is a collection of tracks that flow together with fluidity and gentleness - a suite, a short film, everything an album should be. At 33.3 minutes long, it offers the ideal length: neither too short nor too long, it is designed to be listened to in one sitting. It's like being at a friend's house and observing what matters most to them: objects, family photos, records, musical instruments, their carefully curated collection. The album reflects a multitude of things: culture, community, passion, and the incredible bond that unites Radhika with her father, Sushil, aka Future Pilot. This record spans generations and continents, but its anchor always remains Radhika and the improvised family music sessions with Sushil in various garages, bedrooms, and garden sheds - her powerful voice and her love for all genres of music, from Bollywood to gothic pop to the Glasgow School. The songs draw inspiration from memory and the present moment - one of them dates back to when she wrote "Future Me," an eco-anthem, at the age of 10. Other musicians appear at times, notably her long-time collaborator, Eric Macdonald, on hazy synthesizers and keyboards, and Radhika's mother, Vinita, who also possesses a beautiful voice. The influence of the Glasgow School is everywhere: Mitch Mitchell (The Pastels), Gerard Love (Lightships/ex-Teenage Fanclub), and Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura) each bring their laid-back magic. "Cine-Pop," mostly recorded in Glasgow at La Chunky studio with the excellent Colin McGeogh (who also contributes flute, keyboards, and electronics), is a unique project. It is irreplaceable - ephemeral. It is the world seen through the eyes of an exceptionally talented young Indo-Scottish woman. Her entire being is present in it, is an integral part of it, and has its reason for being there. Following the success of her first single, "Starry Eyes," played numerous times on BBC 6Music and other radio stations, Radhika will soon unveil "Feline Bandits" as well as a cover of the Strawberry Switchblade classic, "Since Yesterday." She will also collaborate with Glasgow-based director Laura Meek for the promotion of her tracks, and plans to perform live throughout the year.Buy Cine-Pop at the best price
