"They say that people change their cellular structure every seven years, so I have completely regenerated several times since we launched Pylon forty years ago," explains Vanessa Briscoe Hay, the singer of this iconic Athens band and now the leader of the Pylon Reenactment Society. "Throughout your life, you will learn new things. Your mind will change and expand. I am much older now, and I can no longer be something I am not. Pylon is our guiding star, but we are not Pylon. We are the Pylon Reenactment Society. It is easier to explain what the Pylon Reenactment Society is not than what it actually is. It is not a sequel or a reunion, as Vanessa is the only member of both groups. It is neither a tribute nor a cover band, although they perform songs by Pylon. Instead, this new group draws inspiration from the old band, tapping into its motivating principles. The Magnet Factory of the Pylon Reenactment Society has developed organically from jams and writing sessions over several years. As the album took shape, the lyrics peeled back layers of time and shared spaces that make up a life. Two unreleased songs by Pylon have been added to complete this collective unspoken. All the music was recorded by the four current members of the band (Vanessa Briscoe Hay, Jason NeSmith, Kay Stanton, Gregory Sanders) with a stellar vocal duet featuring the incomparable Kate Pierson of The B-52's."
