Acoustic supergroup formed in the studio around Ken "Bundy K." Brown (Tortoise/Directions in Music), Curtis Harvey (Rex), Chris Brokaw (Come) and Doug McCombs (Tortoise/Eleventh Dream Day), later joined by drummer Tim Barnes. Their first album, *Turnstyles & Junkpiles* (1998), released on Thrill Jockey, featured a hushed assembly of guitars recorded live to tape, evoking John Fahey and Leo Kottke as much as Gastr del Sol. Their second opus, *Viewfinder* (2001), enriched this framework with percussion, discreet electric textures, and multiple layers, while retaining the cinematic sobriety that was the band's signature. Pullman thus established itself as a benchmark in contemporary acoustic instrumental music, between folk and post-rock, both timeless and rooted in a handcrafted approach. Twenty years later, the band returns with *III*, an album born of friendship and resilience. In 2021, Tim Barnes revealed he had early-onset Alzheimer's at 54. Despite the progression of his condition, he continued to work almost daily with Brown and several longtime collaborators, transforming a simple contribution for a compilation into a true new album, finalized between 2021 and 2023. Mixed and edited by Brown with Barnes' initial ideas, *III* extends the intimacy and space dear to Pullman while embodying the spirit of community that drives their work. An album that is both an aesthetic extension and a testament to the power of music, imbued with memory, perseverance, and grace.
