The Agent Intellect

Description

The Detroit band is back with a great post-punk record. After No Passion All Technique (2013) and Under Color of Official Right (2014), October 2015 marks the release of the third and most accomplished album by PROTOMARTYR, a Detroit band comprising Joe Casey, Greg Ahee, Alex Leonard, and Scott Davidson, titled The Agent Intellect. Recorded by Bill Skibbe, a member of Key Club, in one week, the album refers to the ancient philosophical question of the Self but also to Alzheimer's disease, which Joe's mother suffered from. "We are nothing and nobody," he states. This theme is repeated throughout the album, but especially in "Ellen," a romantic track inspired by his mother. The album is haunted by Casey's confident pen. Elegant and devastating, it reflects the entire personality of PROTOMARTYR.
