The Preservation Hall Jazz Band takes its name from Preservation Hall, which became one of the legendary places in New Orleans thanks to Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The musicians who have performed there over the years are brought together in the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and spread the venue’s reputation around the world. The group has often been described as “a bridge across the ages - a link between the present and the golden age of New Orleans.” The band’s musicians aim to preserve this traditional music that evolved in New Orleans at the turn of the century and bring it to a contemporary audience. Taking up the torch from his parents, Ben Jaffe helps keep the tradition of New Orleans jazz alive, along with the memory of Louis Armstrong, Professor Longhair, George Lewis and other great artists from the city, through “That's It” (2013) and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s world tours. By capturing the freshness and dynamism of this music, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band fulfills its duty of remembrance.
