Les Années Lolita is a compilation of unreleased archive recordings by Thierry Azam and Alain Michon, aka Pray-Pax, members of the French artistic collective Lolita Danse in the 1980s. The music gathered here, drawn from the group’s performances, blends no wave, minimal wave, post-punk, avant-garde jazz and eccentric DIY compositions, reflecting a surreal, theatrical and kaleidoscopic aesthetic. Founded in 1981, Lolita Danse brought together artists, dancers and musicians exploring multidisciplinary practices without seeking a single style, producing spectacular solos, duos and collective pieces. Between 1981 and 1989, the collective performed in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Denmark and Brazil. This compilation offers a fascinating glimpse into the fluid and strange sonic universe of Pray-Pax, at the heart of the collective’s unique and exuberant events.
