Originally released on the Liberty label in 1970, "Affenstunde" (which can be translated as "The Hour of the Monkey") was one of the very first albums to incorporate the Moog synthesizer as a compositional tool. The compositions of Florian Fricke possessed a unique, almost supernatural quality that would influence successive generations of musicians. "Affenstunde" was critically acclaimed upon its release and is now considered a major work in the history of electronic and ambient music.
