With his first album dating back to 2001, Poirier is a prolific, creative and eclectic Canadian producer and musician who has devoted the past 20 years to making music. In his albums and DJ performances, he constantly seeks to build bridges between different languages, communities and cultures. Thanks to his open and uninhibited musical spirit, his works defy boundaries, resulting in compositions that blend multiple styles and eras. He has now produced a total of 11 albums and numerous EPs with labels such as Ninja Tune, Nice Up Records and, more recently, Wonderwheel Recordings. Based in Montreal, his monthly party, Qualité de Luxe, is dedicated to African and Caribbean music and has been drawing crowds for more than six years. Poirier is also the man behind Bounce le Gros and Karnival, parties with legendary status in the history of Montreal nightlife. As usual with Poirier, it is difficult to identify all the genres and references on his album. Soft Power has an irresistible warm vibe that will get everyone moving and dancing. It is hot, it is acoustic, it is electronic. The tracks "Café Com Leite" feat. Flavia Coelho and "Me Leva" feat. Flavia Nascimento transport the listener to Brazil while the sounds of West Africa influence "Nidiaye Sam" feat. Daby Touré. Then we cross the Atlantic to Montreal and Mexico with "Contigo" feat. Boogat, while "Pull Up Dat" feat. Red Fox is a perfect Jamaican jam for any dancehall party. "Nou Pare" feat. Coralie Hérard captures the heart of Haiti while "Do Kase" feat. Mélissa Laveaux fuses Canada and France with Haiti in the background. In his instrumental tracks, Poirier throws an afro house party at 4 a.m. with "The Junction", and travels back in time to a Mediterranean island in 1987 with "Forma", before finally relaxing in the sun with "Coconut Beach".
