Description

After Plattenbau's second studio album 'Shape / Shifting' [Dedstrange 2022] comes their relentless third album 'Net Prophet', set to be released on Dedstrange on September 8, 2023. "Neural transmissions of crisis on the eve of WEB 3.0" finds the band delving deeper into the hazy territory of 21st-century excesses, where power absolutely corrupts and the mental netscape is more disturbed in the membrane than we ever thought possible. A world on the brink, where imminent ecocide and violent social upheavals lurk beneath every minute mental distraction. The doomscroll lengthens and attention spans shorten as a disconnected global Internet life takes over with its scepters of promises and imminent evasiveness. The sound is rich in variety, from the darkwave pulsing synths of "Lichtenberg Monologue" reminiscent of "Tomahawk" from Shape / Shifting to the slow, rumbling bass of "A New Dawn" that recalls the band's first album, albeit with a synth instead of guitar. Even with the striking contrasts of the murder-punk "AR-15" and the jangle-pop "Purgatory Mall," the record never strays from the band's main colors: Vox, drums, bass, guitar, synth. Recorded live in the Berlin studio Monoton, the album showcases the band at its peak - tight and influenced by their extensive touring, which has refined their sound from simple elements into a rich and tasty nugget, easily digestible for the modern consumer.
