Since 2003 and the release of Spokes, Plaid have scored two award-winning Michael Arias films, released the ambitious audio-visual collaboration Greedy Baby, continued to perform all over the world (including a performance for Warp Records' 20th-anniversary celebrations) – and worked on their new album.From Latin origin, the word 'scintilli' can be translated as 'I am many sparks'. A self-affirmation mantra that Plaid (aka Ed Handley and Andy Turner) say they chant for two hours every morning before starting work in their new North London studio. Every part of the work has been carefully crafted: they calculated that for every beat, a day's work was needed - from the announcement of the first foundations in 2009 to the final rendering earlier this year. 'This intensive work process will guarantee a long life for these musical pieces, which will be able to withstand the stresses due to modern playback devices,' they insist.
