PIXIES AT THE BBC, 1988-91

Between 1988 and 1991 - during the 4AD years - Pixies recorded six sessions for the BBC, five for John Peel and one for Mark Goodier. Capturing the raw energy of the band’s live performances, these sessions immediately garnered attention, forever cementing Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago, and David Lovering at the height of their artistic and captivating powers. Originally released on CD in 1998, 4AD is reissuing all tracks from the six sessions in chronological order across triple black vinyl and double CD, with updated artwork featuring a stunning black and gold design by Chris Bigg. Chris pays loving tribute to Vaughan Oliver, the late creator of the band's and label's iconic visuals, by using previously unseen archival images of Pixies taken by Simon Larbalestier, another longtime collaborator.
