Pink Floyd at Pompeii is a 1972 film directed by Adrian Maben showing Pink Floyd performing in the ancient Roman amphitheatre of Pompeii, Italy. The band performs a blistering live set in front of an empty arena, except for themselves and the film crew. The main sequence was filmed inside and around the amphitheatre over four days in October 1971. The film was re-released in 1974 with additional studio material of the band working on The Dark Side of the Moon, as well as interviews at Abbey Road Studios.Pink Floyd at Pompeii - MCMLXXII is an incredible document of a band on the cusp of fame. The film has been restored from the original 1972 35mm negative in 4K, meaning the scan comes directly from the film that was running through the cameras on that hot day in Pompeii. You cannot get better quality than that!On the audio side, renowned producer/musician Steven Wilson oversaw the audio and film mixes, including Dolby Atmos - this is the first time he has worked on the band's catalogue and we know fans will love it.
