This project of a complete collection of Brahms' chamber music was born naturally, through hard work and discussions about his work. A true journey followed, necessary and almost obligatory for any passionate chamber musician, as Brahms, extremely prolific and with such a regular output, magnifies the language of the time, from the duo to the sextet, at the crossroads of classical rigor and romantic impulse. Pierre Fouchenneret, Lise Berthaud, François Salque, and Éric Le Sage invited their closest friends and partners to this project, which some deemed then unfeasible: to play and record in concert, thanks to the network of La Belle Saison venues with perfectly suited acoustics, all of Brahms' chamber music with the same group of musicians. All are soloists, quartet players, chamber musicians, and also work in orchestras, driven by a shared appetite for Brahms' music, who loved and served chamber ensembles throughout his life, always going in the direction of the instrument. All are also committed to presenting great complete works, as was the case for the four musicians who initiated the project for Ravel, Fauré, Poulenc, Beethoven, and Schumann. Each concert was recorded by the teams at B Records for this ambitious complete collection that you now hold in your hands.
