Pierre Bastien and Michel Banabila return with Nuits Sans Nuit, their second collaboration after Baba Soirée (2023). Recorded as an intuitive exchange between Rotterdam and Valencia, the album was born from a simple game of ping-pong: Banabila shaped sounds and atmospheres, while Bastien responded with his unique instrumental palette – enhanced cornet with flute, mechanical drum, and more. Mixed by Banabila, Nuits Sans Nuit is a raw and immersive work, permeated by a floating melancholy. "I don't know how to describe the feeling of these crazy times we are living in," confides Banabila. Bastien quotes De Musset: "The most desperate are the most beautiful songs." Without lyrics but intensely expressive, the album invites a meditative listening experience where meaning emerges through immersion, akin to ritual music carrying a silent message. Echoes of saudade, blues, fado, and soleá traverse the duo's sound play, reinvented through their unique language.
