Fantasy

Description

This lost chapter of Piero Umiliani's discography is finally being released for the very first time, more than forty years after its creation, on the very day of the centenary of the composer's birth. Recorded in 1983, Fantasy was meant to be the fourth title of Telesound, the last of the film music labels founded by Umiliani – after Omicron, Liuto Records, SWS, Ciak, and Videovoice. However, the composer's sudden illness put an end to its release, and the project remained in the drawers, forgotten in the archives of the Sound Work Shop. This album occupies a central place in Umiliani's sound universe, blending easy listening music and experimental electronic music with images inspired by science and nature, all with a touch of fantasy. It is an imaginary journey where analog synthesizers, light orchestrations, fluid rhythms, and futuristic soundscapes coexist with that expressive immediacy that made Umiliani a unique figure in the Italian music landscape.
