To mark its 50th anniversary, CAM Sugar presents the ultimate edition of « Travolti da un insolito destino nell'azzurro mare d'agosto », one of the major scores by Piero Piccioni. A masterpiece of the Italian soundtrack, composed for the 1974 cult film by Lina Wertmüller - the first woman to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director - starring Mariangela Melato and Giancarlo Giannini. Its success and cult film status inspired a 2002 remake titled « Swept Away », directed by Guy Ritchie and starring pop star Madonna. The soundtrack mirrors the exotic setting of the film, defined by its characteristic touch of samba, bossa nova and lounge music, enhanced by the wordless vocals of Nora Orlandi, in the purest Italian cinematic tradition of the 1960s and 1970s. This reissue is fully remastered from the original master tape, available on double vinyl and digipack CD.
