To mark the 100th anniversary of composer Peter Thomas on December 1, 2025, Allscore is releasing a soundtrack as a preview: for the first time, Thomas's work for the police series DER KOMMISSAR is being highlighted in an album. The series was launched by the public television channel ZDF in 1969 to counter the American police series that were enjoying great success in Germany at the time. The series DER KOMMISSAR, produced by Helmut Ringelmann, succeeded the police series DAS KRIMINALMUSEUM (1963-1970) aired on ZDF and itself served as a model for its successors DERRICK and DER ALTE, which were also filmed in Munich. It consisted of 97 episodes broadcast between 1969 and 1976, all in black and white. Thanks to its sophisticated integration of criminal cases into social developments and generational conflicts, the series is still considered today as a document that defined the style of its era. This is particularly why DER KOMMISSAR is also characterized by the innovative use of current pop and rock hits (The Rolling Stones, CAN, T. Rex...). But established film music composers also had their chance. Peter Thomas, for example, contributed to the music of 22 episodes. This ranged from the simple use of pre-recorded music tracks (library music) to composing all the music for an episode (soundtrack). The most famous is certainly the song by Daisy Door "Du lebst in deiner Welt (Highlights of My Dream)" from episode 39 (Als die Blumen Trauer trugen, 1971), which became a hit in the charts after its broadcast, sold half a million copies, and earned the singer three appearances on the television show "ZDF Hitparade."
