All Score is a German label that, since the early 2000s, has specialized in the release of Easy Listening music as well as film soundtracks, of course, but also TV series and commercials. It features composers Peter Thomas (Bruce Lee - The Big Boss....among others), Martin Böttcher, as well as a number of works by Ennio Morricone, and radio works are also published. The seventh installment in our series dedicated to Peter Thomas is devoted to the music of the first and most famous German science-fiction television series, RAUMPATROUILLE. Just in time for the 60th anniversary of this great seven-episode success (first broadcast: September 17, 1966), this legendary masterpiece from Peter Thomas’s body of work, enriched with unreleased tracks, is being reissued on CD and vinyl. Rarely has the music of a television series managed to radiate such charisma beyond the images as this soundtrack. The opening vocoder countdown can now unquestionably be called a cult classic. By itself, the countdown at the beginning has been covered countless times. From Pulp to Pizzicato Five, via Combustible Edison and DJ Spinna, the music of RAUMPATROUILLE has been covered, sampled, and remixed. Since 1966, many recordings have been released in various editions, but in collaboration with Philip, Peter Thomas’s son, we have managed to add four unreleased tracks to the soundtrack, discovered in the composer’s archives. This vinyl edition is inspired by the original 1966 Philips LP, completed with these four new tracks. This LP therefore contains only original music from the series, with the exception of one track which, although not included in the series, we did not dare leave out: “Bolero on the Moon Rocks,” on which Pulp’s hit “This is Hardcore” (1998) is based, and which has gained a reputation of its own. In addition to the purist original music on the LP, the CD, running over 60 minutes, contains all the other original tracks and excerpts that have been added to the soundtrack over the years. The later-added filler tracks have been omitted for reasons of space or lack of relevance.
