NEW 2 CD EXTENDED EDITION OF THIS CLASSIC PETER HAMMILL ALBUM.NEWLY MIXED BY PETER HAMMILL.FULLY RESTORED ARTWORK Initially released in 2004 as a CD only release, “Incoherence” featured 14 songs which were all linked together to form a continuous piece of music, the first time in many years Peter Hammill had adopted this approach. All the pieces had a common lyrical purpose around miscommunication and failures of language. On its release the album was highly praised by fans and critics alike and is one of Peter’s most acclaimed later works. “Incoherence” was completed just before Peter suffered a heart attack. Having taken some time to recover, he now explains: “When I got back to the studio I didn’t really feel like going back over the mixes, so ‘Incoherence’ eventually came out with the originals. At some point I started considering a vinyl release for the album and realised I would have to do an element of remixing in order to find a point of separation. When I went back to look at the tracks, I got the idea that I could now do a much better job of mixing than I had done originally. So, bit by bit, I carried on. I also decided that this time around it would be interesting to have a version of the album divided into individual songs, finally exposing the original start and end points.” This 2CD edition on Esoteric Recordings features Peter’s new “continuous” mix along with a CD of his individual song mixes with fully restored artwork and is a definitive edition of one of Peter Hammill’s great works.
