The True North is the 2nd solo album by Peter Garrett, singer of Midnight Oil, a champion of environmental activism worldwide. It draws its inspiration and strength from the vivid colors of the Australian nature as well as the landscapes and atmospheres of modern Oz. The band that participated in its creation consists of Martin Rotsey (Midnight Oil) on guitar, Heather Shannon (The Jezabels) on keyboards, Evan Mannell on drums, and Rowan Lane on bass. Freya Schack-Arnott on cello and Ollie Thorpe on pedal steel joined them, along with two of Peter's daughters, May and Grace, who sang on the key tracks. The True North is produced by Tony Buchen (Smashing Pumpkins, Montaigne, G-Flip, Tim Finn).
