After a decade spent in obscurity, Peter Cat Recording Co., or PCRC, emerged from the toxic winter smog of Delhi to make their scene debut with the 2019 release of *Bismillah*, their unique take on 21st-century pop music. Searching for a cross-cultural sound, centered on Suryakant Sawhney's songwriting, PCRC's music harnesses ideas both in time and space, across centuries and continents, extracting and transforming them into modern anthems and timeless folk, something one could perhaps imagine hearing on a Star Trek vessel. As its name suggests, Peter Cat Recording Co. is less a band than a self-contained music and art factory. With three talented songwriters, Suryakant, Dhruv Bhola, and Kartik, the band is building a legacy that draws on and echoes the spirit of bands like the Velvet Underground and the Beatles. The next chapter for this entity began with the announcement of their new album, *Beta*. The band consists of Suryakant Sawhney on vocals and guitar, Karan Singh on drums, Dhruv Bhola on bass and samples, Rohit Gupta on keyboards, brass, and woodwinds, and Kartik Sundareshan on guitars, brass, and woodwinds.
