With his third album under the name Peel Dream Magazine, Joseph Stevens invites you to discover a fabulous world entirely crafted by him. On "Pad," he avoids the hazy glories of his indie pop past. A conceptual work on the theme of losing oneself when you only have yourself, "Pad" hints at an exciting new future for Stevens' pop name by reimagining his own existence. Following the 2020 album Agitprop Alterna, Pad presents a major sonic evolution for the 34-year-old songwriter, who has moved to Los Angeles. The 1970s drum machines and synthesizers are still present, but he has swapped his buzzing guitar for a nylon-string guitar, opting for a sweet baroque pop sound infused with bossa, folk, and his own strange mysticism, offering a surreal blend of vintage organs and found percussion.
