PARSLEY SOUNDS

Description

Parsley Sounds is the glorious debut album from Mo Wax for Parsley Sound. The album was one of the last releases from the iconic label before its closure in 2003, and finding a clean copy has been extremely difficult lately, unless you are wealthy enough. Fortunately, the reissue from Be With, made with the valuable help of the band, should remedy this situation. It's a lo-fi delight, rich in bass, with a dull rhythm, distorted by a haze of warmth and sweet dreamy psychedelia, and it has been criminally underrated for far too long. Like most cult records, Parsley Sounds has many influential fans from all over. From Four Tet and Caribou to Flo Dill, the modern breakfast hero of NTS, its reputation has only grown. At the time, Pitchfork, a group known for its audacity, gave it a rating of 8.8, while recently, Rob Sevier from the Numero group described it as a "visionary piece of proto-Salvia Palth (or Steve Lacy)" in a letter from Ghostly International.
