DISASTER SERENADES

Description

Some albums are born between seasons, when everything is more fragile and regenerating with force. Eugénie Alquezar and Peter K's "Disaster Serenades" is a pinnacle of darkness, an eminently nocturnal record that will be on heavy rotation on sleepless, lovelorn nights. An aristocratic rock'n'roll unbound by conventions, home-cooked with craftsmanship, yet not lacking in edginess, intricate embroidery, its share of dangers and tensions. While some have mentioned Polly Jean Harvey, The Pretenders, or Karen O to try and draw comparisons, let's rejoice, Eugénie & Peter reconnect with the feisty effectiveness of Die Haut. It's not garage, it's not pop, it's not punk, but it's a bit of all that combined in an explosive and languid cocktail. And the asset of a singer with an elastic and intense voice. Parlor Snakes is a French-American rock duo based in Paris, accompanied by musicians who change as they evolve. They have released two singles, Shotguns & Tomorrow Never Comes, a first album Let's Get Gone (2012), followed by a second self-titled album recorded in New York by Matt Verta-Ray. "Disaster Serenades" (Hold On/Wagram Music) is the band's 3rd album, due out October 4, 2019, and will be available as a digisleeve CD and gatefold vinyl including a CD version.
