The two virtuoso saxophonists, Evan Parker and Joe McPhee, met up for an improvised session together on a small stage at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival last July. The Swedish label Rune Grammofon is releasing a 40-minute recording of this encounter. *What/If/They Both Could Fly*, the second recorded collaboration between these artists, resembles a conversation between two friends, which at times turns into an argument, from whispers to harmonies.
