Svart Records continues to reissue the discography of the legendary Argentine blues rock band Pappo's Blues with its second album, Volumen 2, which will be released on vinyl in May 2025. In the early 70s, guitarist, singer, and songwriter Norberto Anibal Napolitano, known in the music world as Pappo, enjoyed a privileged position: he was considered one of the best guitarists in Argentine rock, which was booming at the time. A quick look at his CV would have revealed that Pappo was present from the very beginnings of the genre: a member of the first version of Los Abuelos de la Nada, then guitarist of the second formation of the pioneering and very popular Los Gatos, with which he recorded two albums: Beat # 1 and Rock de la Mujer Perdida; He also briefly but effectively contributed to the popular group Conexión Nº 5, the cult blues band Engranaje, and participated in albums such as the first self-titled album of Billy Bond and La Pesada del Rock and Roll, as well as Spinettalandia y Sus Amigos, the first solo album of Luis Alberto Spinetta, former Almendra. Surprisingly, all this activity took place in just three years. It would not be an exaggeration to say that one could mark the evolution of Argentine rock by following Pappo's musical traces between 1968 and 1971. Volumen 2 is the second studio album of Pappo's Blues, released in November 1972. On this album, guitarist Norberto "Pappo" Napolitano establishes a style influenced by hard rock, blues rock, and acid rock, adapting the power trio format inaugurated by Cream and Jimi Hendrix Experience to an urban sensibility that naturally integrated into the rock of the early 70s. It includes eight songs all composed by Pappo, each track revealing his genius as a composer, performer, and guitarist, filled with memorable riffs and solos, as well as a lyrical sensibility that reflects his image as a guitar hero from Buenos Aires.
