It had been twelve years since David Pajo and his alter ego Papa M had made any noise. Having toured with Slint, Tortoise, and Interpol, among others, this figure of American post-rock delivers "Highway Songs," his fourth album under the moniker of Papa M. Structured as a return to his roots for this multi-instrumentalist, "Highway Songs" draws from the origins of post-rock, blending rock and electronic sounds. With this almost exclusively instrumental album, Papa M succeeds in composing nine tracks that are as rich as they are surprising.
