Pains Of Being Pure At Heart

Description

Since its release in 2009, the first self-titled album by The Pains of Being Pure At Heart has achieved the status of a modern indiepop classic, and more importantly, a record that continues to have an impact far beyond the indiepop scene. As one of the key bands in the Brooklyn guitar music revival of the late 2000s (alongside Crystal Stilts, Grizzly Bear, Vivian Girls, Frankie Rose and others), The Pains paid homage to everything from C86 to early Slumberland, Sarah and Creation label pop, but with a distinct American flavor drawn from bands like Smashing Pumpkins and The Pixies. This debut album, their first album, is a brilliantly confident explosion of fuzz, melodies, tunes and buckets of youthful enthusiasm that was immediately recognized as something very special. Preceded by 3 effervescent singles, the album exploded immediately, going to places where indiepop records and bands rarely go (like television appearances on the Carson Daly and David Letterman shows) and leading to several years of constant touring and the release of two other well-received albums.
