Six years after their debut album, 'Stranger Today,' released in 2018, London trio Our Girl is back with a highly anticipated second album, "The Good Kind," to be released on Bella Union. The phrase ‘unshakeable optimism’ encapsulates Our Girl’s sophomore album, which addresses themes of sexuality, relationships, community and illness. Recorded at Rockfield Studios and produced by John Parish (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding, Dry Cleaning), Fern Ford (The Big Moon, Prima Queen) and Soph Nathan (also of The Big Moon), this album, full of warmth and honesty, marks a significant artistic leap since their acclaimed debut album, Stranger Today. Soph Nathan recalls first taking on a production role: "Working on this album taught me to trust my instincts. I realised we had to make it sound and feel exactly how we wanted it to, otherwise what's the point?" Lauren Wilson, who completes the band alongside Josh Tyler, continues: "It sounds more confident to me... much more considered, we had time and space to write." This creative clarity permeates the album: at once intimate and expansive, tonally nuanced and richly textured, it contains Soph Nathan's most explicitly personal compositions to date. This is testament to how far the band members have come since their last album.
