Daba (Now): The realities of today expressed in the poetic and poignant texts of Oum. After Soul of Morocco in 2013 and Zarabi in 2015, with this third album Daba, Oum takes a new step. She travels with her musicians to Berlin to create an album that is both atmospheric and danceable, with the artistic direction entrusted to the Palestinian poet, singer, and oud player Kamilya Jubran. The orchestration of Daba remains largely acoustic, but some electronic sounds dress the songs for the first time, as if to evoke by echoes more contemporary issues addressed in the lyrics of the album; the threatened nature, the fate of migrants, the status of women, but also an exhortation to live fully in the present. Oum positions herself as a Moroccan, an African, and a woman of the world convinced that cultural barriers weigh less than what can bring us together.
